Services & Approach
What will therapy with me look like?
Therapy with me looks like having fun! When we are laughing, we are changing our relationship with OCD and anxiety’s scary stories. My approach, outside of all the jargon-y therapy acronyms, is about meeting you exactly where you are and getting to know you outside of OCD and anxiety’s narrow definitions. Together, we will work to rebuild your unique identity and strengthen your trust in yourself.
I primarily utilize three evidence-based modalities to help you reclaim your life:
-
The “gold standard” for OCD and anxiety, ERP involves leaning into discomfort through graduated exposures - starting small and building up - to the people, places, and things your brain has labeled threatening.
-
I-CBT moves therapy upstream to examine and deconstruct the faulty logic and imaginary evidence behind your obsessional doubts (the “what ifs”) and to help you trust your senses in the present moment.
-
Instead of fighting or "fixing" intrusive thoughts or uncomfortable sensations, we practice acceptance. We identify your core values - what matters most to you - so you can move toward a meaningful life even when anxiety and OCD is there.
The Therapy Process
Structured Yet Flexible
Our sessions are a blend of intentional skill-building (the "fieldwork") and open, flexible space to process real life.
Values-Driven
Whether we are practicing an exposure or processing a tough week, we are always moving you toward what matters and away from fear.
Collaborative
Your feedback is my compass. We will check in often to ensure the pace and approach feel right for you.
